    Health of Canadians in a Changing Climate (Opens in a new Window)

    This assessment is the first comprehensive study of current and projected risks from climate change to the health of Canadians since 2008. It was developed by a team of more than 80 subject matter experts from regional and federal health authorities and academic institutions across Canada. It addresses the evolving knowledge needs of government decision makers, civil society organizations, and individual Canadians by providing evidence-based and, where possible, quantitative information to help people understand how Canada’s climate is changing, and the effects on health and health systems, including implications for those most at risk.

    How to Consider Climate Change in Coastal Conservation (Opens in a new Window)

    This workbook aims to assist coastal conservation managers integrate climate considerations into new or existing conservation schemes. This guide covers a six-step approach to strengthening conservation efforts, including the identification of climate stressors and evaluation of their impact on conversation targets.     Hurricane Season Flood Alert System (Opens in a new Window)

    The Hurricane Season Flood Alert System (HSFAS) is based on forecasted precipitation amounts and seeks to provide communities with flood warning services as a key climate change adaptation and public safety tool. Alerts are provided to communities that have Flood Risk Mapping Studies (FRMS) or have published intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) curves from which precipitation-based flood triggers can be derived. The HSFAS is operational during the peak hurricane months of June to December, and provides alerts for 45 communities.

    IDF Curve Lookup (Opens in a new Window)

    IDF Curve Lookup is a web-based application to retrieve rainfall Intensity-Duration-Frequency (IDF) curves. Users can input their location using a coordinate format, and select return periods of 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 years. Future projections are made based on a linear trend using 2010 as a reference year. Data are available for download in tabular and graphical formats.

    Increasing High Wind Safety for Canadian Homes: A Foundational Document for Low-Rise Residential and Small Buildings (Opens in a new Window)

    This report provides the basis for the development of a set of commonly acceptable, relatively straightforward wind risk reduction measures that can be incorporated into new single-family home construction and significant renovations to reduce risk to life, health and property.     Métis Climate Change and Health Vulnerability Assessment (MCCHVA) (Opens in a new Window)

    This comprehensive report examines the relationship between climate change and Métis health and wellbeing. The report reviews health vulnerabilities and Métis-relevant social determinants of health; climate risks by each governing area and type of hazard such as forest fire, extreme heat, and flooding; knowledge gaps; and, key areas for action by each Metis governing body. The report recognizes the unique environmental knowledge of the Métis Nation and the strength of their communities, which provide examples of resiliency that can be used in adapting to climate change. The report closes with recommendations.
